Special thanks to DeVry University for accommodating our study groups.
HRTampa, a 100% SHRM chapter, sponsors a study group as a benefit for all interested members who wish to explore the advantages of certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute.
The study group provides an informal setting to review and discuss study material, and practice test taking. The study group meets 2 hours weekly for twelve weeks.
The study group is open to HRTampa and student members at no charge. Non-members will be charged $300.00. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid in advance.
We will be utilizing the, “Human Resource Certification Program”. The program may be ordered through HRTampa at a discount for $270.00. Payable by check or money order only. We are not able to accept credit cards at this time.
Check out the SHRM/HRCI site for more information!
Deciding to certify is a major step and commitment. There is not a single best way to prepare for the certification examination. A lot depends on your prior education and background in the HR field, as well your learning and life style.
It is not possible to teach to the HRCI examinations. You have to master the HRCI outline and be able to apply the information. Factors unrelated to the HR body of knowledge can also contribute to passing or not passing to test. We are proud of all our study group participants.

Testimonials
WHAT CERTIFICATION MEANS TO ME by John W. Jerome
As a newly “minted” SPHR, I am extremely proud and grateful for the opportunity and challenge to elevate my credentials to such a high national standard.
My job as Human Resources Managers has many payoffs. Primary among them is being able to serve my fellow employees and to provide a valuable service to my company and to the community. Helping others sift through the complexity of benefit programs and packages and being able to protect my employer against a virtual minefield of legal vulnerability makes it all worth while.
Ensuring fairness in the treatment of employees is another valuable service provided by human resources professionals, for which we take pride. This is indeed an honorable profession that each member can make the most of when contributing to society at large.
The certifications I have earned are my best assurances that I have the tools I need to get it right. It’s a lot more than simply being proud of an accomplishment. It means that I know what it takes to get this all-important job done the right way. Because SHRM is the largest and most widely recognized professional association for Human Resources professionals, the certifications that they have developed are universally recognized and that is very important to me.
The study group, sponsored by HR-Tampa, was invaluable in helping me prepare for the certification exam. I am indebted to HR-Tampa and especially to the group leaders Lori Barndollar and Stephanie Ulmer for the stellar job they did in conducting the 2003 Fall Study Group. My hat is off to those two and I cannot thank them enough!
